It’s easy to see that us Angelinos love our dogs! Just check out the many breeds of all sizes happily walking with their owners. They relish the pleasures of being dogs in Los Angeles while not apologizing for wanting attention. That being said, we want dog-friendly areas and neighborhoods with dog-friendly establishments that cater to us and our furry friends.
So, we’ve searched for the best Los Angeles neighborhoods for dogs and dog owners.
Here are five suggestions we know you’ll love!
Santa Monica
This is one of the best dog-friendly areas in the state for dogs in Los Angeles. There are no reserved beaches for dogs, but they can still enjoy walking along the beach. It compensates by offering dog-friendly parks such as Pacific Street Dog Park and Herb Katz Dog Park. In addition, you can find 80% of rental properties allow pets and business owners leave bowls of water outside.
West Hollywood
No other Los Angeles neighborhoods for dogs offers the same number of dog-friendly establishments featuring places like Tailwaggers and Collar and Leash. You will find animal hospitals, pet bakeries, and pet washing services along Santa Monica Boulevard. William S. Hart Dog Park is the main attraction featuring abundant space for your dog to romp. It also features a pet appreciation day to pamper your dog.
Silver Lake
This area is a winner for providing dogs in Los Angeles with over 20 parks, eating places, and pet-friendly attractions gathered in a 10-mile radius. Some pet-friendly spots like Sawyer encourage dogs and owners to lounge on the patio and pups can meet other pups to meet-ups. However, only 60% of rentals are pet-friendly.
Downtown L.A.
This area often gets overlooked as a place for dogs because of the many high-rise buildings and bumper-to-bumper traffic. However, 75% of rentals accept pets and it has a high number of dog-friendly parks that are fenced in such as Grand Park and L.A. Live Off-Leash Dog Park. You will also find no shortage of dog groomers and boarding facilities.
Los Feliz
You’ll love taking your pooch on a stroll through this relaxing and friendly neighborhood. Tons of dog-owners call this area home so your pup will have plenty of “furiends” and playdates to schedule. While most of Los Feliz is very chill you can still enjoy the hustle of city life on Hillhurst and Vermont Avenues. They are loaded with shops, restaurants, bars and for Fido- the largest park in the country, Griffith Park, will not let you down! It not only has dog-friendly hiking trails but a dog park as well.
